For more than 20 years, the Sr. High Youth Group at EBC has set out for an experience like no other, one that won't soon be forgotten, and is in my opinion a foundation in the journey to adulthood! This annual getaway has changed lives. It's helped students come to understand personal sexuality, love and relationships from the Creators point of view! We live in a secular world that doesn't understand or value God's perspective on life and love. That's why we dedicate an annual time away to hear Creator God's point of view on the subject! Specific themes for Snow Camp are set on a 4-year rotating schedule. Year 1, explores "Gender - Our sex by God's' design". When I started teaching this topic nearly 20 years ago, I had NO IDEA that gender would SEEM as complicated as it does today. God knew, and I'm so glad we tackle this issue from the timeless truth of the Bible! Year 2, (this year's theme) explores DATING in a retreat setting designed to engage, inform, and impact High School students in Godly dating principals that teach dating and breaking up from a Christian world view. Year 3 is a discussion on SEX, specifically the power and purpose of this gift from God. Except for Adam, Even and Jesus, every person alive came to be because of a sexual connection. We are sexual beings, but what does that mean? What is God's intention for sex and sexual understanding? Year 4 is an exhaustive study of the book of Song of Solomon. We study the book from the traditional Jewish perspective; it's story of love and lust, a true-to-life story of love under attack. There's so much to learn from this amazing book!
