Living Ready: Preparing for Christ's Return Through Love and Service - Pastor Yves, October 26

Oct 26, 2025    Pastor Yves

We often struggle to grasp our significance in the vastness of God's creation. When we consider that there are two trillion galaxies in the observable universe, and it would take 2.5 million years traveling at the speed of light just to reach our nearest galactic neighbor, we echo David's words: 'What is man that you are mindful of him?' Yet despite our cosmic smallness, God sent His Son to die for us. This sermon challenges us with an urgent truth that appears over 1,800 times in Scripture—far more than the 300 references to Christ's first coming—Jesus is returning soon. The question we must wrestle with is whether we're truly ready. Readiness isn't about stockpiling supplies or decoding prophecy charts; it's about loving obedience that makes us right with God and right with people. Through Matthew 25:31-46, we discover that Jesus identifies so intimately with humanity's suffering that when we feed the hungry, welcome the stranger, or visit the imprisoned, we're actually serving Him. The sobering reality is that many of God's people will have their love grow cold in the last days—not the world's love, but agape love, the unconditional love that marks true believers. We're called to examine whether we're living with eternal perspective or have grown comfortable in our earthly blessings, willing to go but really planning to stay. The only thing we can take to heaven is other people, which is why relationships—especially with those unlike us—must be our focus as we await Christ's return.
