Authority, Responsibility, and Mission: Standing Firm Against the Enemy - Pastor Yves, August 16th
This closing message of the series "Do Not Be Deceived" calls believers to a renewed understanding of the spiritual authority, responsibility, and mission given to them by Jesus Christ. Drawing primarily from Luke 10:17-20 and Matthew 16:17-19, the sermon establishes that the enemy is real, active, and deceptive, but that God's people have been given complete authority over him through Christ. The sermon emphasizes that the church is not a defensive institution hiding from darkness, but an offensive force advancing against the gates of hell. While spiritual authority over the enemy is a remarkable gift, the greatest gift Jesus offers is relationship with himself and the eternal security of having one's name written in the book of life. Believers are called to engage their world through prayer, scripture, worship, and the proclamation of the gospel, trusting in the complete sufficiency of the weapons God has provided.
